Western District Homicide Arrest

In reference to the homicide that occurred in the Western District on January 18, 2026, investigators have arrested 40-year-old Derrick Ashe Jr.

Ashe was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Jemel Dixon, which occurred in the 1000 block of West North Avenue.

On February 12, 2026, Derrick Ashe Jr. was arrested while in the 1900 block of Division Street and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with First and Second Degree Murder, assault, and handgun violations.

Western District Homicide Investigation

On January 18, 2026, at approximately 4:48 a.m., a Western District patrol officer was on routine patrol when he was flagged down by a citizen advising him of an incident near Linden Avenue and West North Avenue.

Once there, officers located an unidentified adult male suffering from an apparent life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital by medics, where he later died.
