Southern District Attempted Murder Arrest

In reference to the shooting that occurred on February 10, 2026, in the Southern District, officers have arrested 31-year-old Preston Freeman.

Freeman was arrested in connection with the shooting of a 36-year-old male who was shot during the course of a robbery in the 4000 block of 5th Avenue. The victim then walked to a fire station in the 400 block of Maude Avenue, where police were notified. 

On February 11, 2026, Southern District patrol officers arrested Freeman while in the 3900 block of 5th Street, without incident. Freeman was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with Attempted Murder.

Southern District Shooting Investigation

On February 10, 2026, at approximately 6:18 a.m., Southern District patrol officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Maude Avenue for a report of a shooting victim.

Once there, officers located a 36-year-old male suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim was transported by medics to an area hospital for treatment.
