Southern District Homicide Arrest

In reference to the homicide that occurred in the Southern District on December 13, 2025, detectives have arrested 34-year-old Emanuel Thomas of Howard County.

Thomas was arrested in connection with the murder of 50-year-old Shanelle Cawthorne, who was killed in the 800 block of Chesapeake Avenue.

On December 26, 2025, Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested Emanuel Thomas while in the 1200 block of East Preston Street. Thomas was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with First & Second Degree Murder and multiple Handgun Violations.

Southern District Homicide Investigation 

On December 13, 2025, at approximately 1:13 a.m., Southern District Officers responded to the 800 block of Chesapeake Avenue in reference to a shooting. 

Upon their arrival, officers observed an unidentified female suffering from a gunshot wound. The female was pronounced deceased on scene. 

Homicide Detectives responded and are investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Detectives at 410-396-2100.
